I'm a tattoo artist based in Cape Town, specialising in etching-inspired designs and fine-line details.
Art has always been a part of who I am.
From a young age, creating became the way I understood and connected with the world around me.
The first memory I have of wanting to be an artist goes all the way back to pre-primary school. It was my birthday, and everyone in the class had to draw me a picture. One boy drew what, in little Gen's eyes, was the greatest cow to ever exist. I was completely in awe of it. All I wanted from that moment on was to be able to draw that well too.
After that, my love for art only grew. Many of my birthdays were filled with art supplies and well-loved "How to Draw" books.
My work is inspired by vintage illustrations, the intricacies of nature, botanicals, creatures and critters, and the power of symbolism, all woven together by the emotions that connect us to these images. I believe the most memorable tattoos are the ones that stir something deep within you.
I see tattoos as intimate expressions of self, and I strive to offer a peaceful, collaborative space where those drawn to meaningful art feel truly heard and leave with a piece of art they will treasure for a lifetime.
What I treasure most about this chapter is sharing it with Tami in our own little oasis: a snug studio brimming with lush plants, vibrant art, and curious treasures. Every corner holds a piece of our hearts, and I hope that anyone who steps inside can feel the warmth we've woven into the space.
